One of the great grumpy voices on The Today Programme on Radio 4, probably the most influential radio programme in the World.

Newcastle-born Brian Redhead graduated from the Guardian to join Today in 1975. His partnership with John Timpson is still fondly-remembered.

He died in January 1994.
