Paleoanthropologist Tim White on this edition of Fresh Air. Tim White was the co-leader of the team that discovered three very important skulls in Ethiopia. The human remains can be dated to 160,000 to 154,000 years old. They are evidence of the earliest ancestors of modern humans. They add evidence to the theory that modern humans emerged in Africa and are not related to Neanderthals, who lived in Europe. The discovery is considered quite significant.
