Before the holidays, we talked with Ben Felder about Kevin Stitt's attempt to renegotiate the tribal gaming compact. This week, we spoke with Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. of the Cherokee Nation. Chuck Hoskin Jr. was elected to serve as the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, the country's largest tribal government with more than 380,000 tribal citizens, in 2019. Prior to being elected Principal Chief, he served as the Cherokee Nation Secretary of State. We talked about Kevin Stitt's interpretation of the gaming compact, and what the future holds for sports betting in the state of Oklahoma. Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. discussed the difference between tribal politics and national politics, as well as what it means to be a member of the Cherokee tribe and whether or not DNA determines it.
