Description

Our first episode in English is here! And there is a good reason for it: we are proud to present a special exhibition of paintings by French artist Laurent Ajina held at Giese und Schweiger from October 18 to November 6, 2021. As the show’s title, “Grand Slam”, suggests, it is all about tennis, which has been a great passion of Laurent Ajina and Alexander Giese for many years. In cooperation with Galerie Crone (Vienna/Berlin), who represent the artist, a body of works on the theme of tennis especially created for this exhibition is shown alongside the “Erste Bank Open” tennis tournament. In this episode Alexander Giese speaks to four guests that have collaborated on the show. Follow us behind the scenes as art historian Lara Bandion talks about organising the show, gallerist Andreas Huber (Galerie Crone) shares ways to successfully represent a contemporary artist, Laurent Ajina talks about his background and inspiration and curator Elsy Lahner (Albertina) discusses Ajina’s work in the context of contemporary drawing.
