I imagine that after the Apostle Paul encountered Jesus on the Damascus Road he became one of the strongest and most remarkable persons to ever live. His emotional stability, his aptitude to endure the torture and hardships of persecution and travel, his spiritual life was like the Alps, all of these surpassed any leader's capacity to will a victory in battle.
Yet, he had a love and tenderness in his writings to his spiritual children that reflects the love of God for all of us. He knew what was best for his sheep and he desired it for them. We see this in his prayer for the Ephesians in chapter 1:15-23.
He longed for their spiritual eyes to be opened, so they could know their identity in Christ and the power to live as king's kids.
