Since we are created in the image of God, we need to understand that God is One. "Hear O Israel the Lord your God is one." We worship One God who is three distinct Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Sin has fractured the oneness of God's image in us. God through Jesus Christ seeks to restore us to the oneness that we lost through our sin. This process is called sanctification. Our new identity in Christ as one with God and one within ourselves needs to replace this old identity of inner division.
This revelation of oneness is part of defeating the hopelessness, loss of self worth, failure, and helplessness that sin has inflicted upon us. In the oneness of God's love we learn of the oneness of living to fulfill God's vision for our lives. This can bring about tremendous healing in our wounded soul.
