Think of this, Jesus never murdered anyone in His heart. He never sinned with anger. He never held a grudge or gossip or lied or lusted after a woman. He never broke a promise. He never returned evil for evil. He was perfect as His Father in heaven is perfect.
Jesus pointed out to His listeners, no one but Him could ever satisfy the requirements of God's laws. They needed something more than the sacrifice of animals to deal with their sins. They needed a Savior, the Lamb of God who would take away their sins. His words would lead them to Himself.
Jesus understands the corruption of sin in the human heart. We struggle with temptation and sin. He came to give us the victory we so desperately need. His saved us from the wrath of God and reconciled us to God in love.
Do we realize what a tremendous gift this is? What was the cost? Where would we be without His perfect sacrifice? THe value of His gift is immeasurable!
