Beth Fowler, who plays Sister Jane Ingalls on the hit Netflix series Orange Is The New Black, is 100% Jersey girl. A Jersey City native, Caldwell University alumna and Bergen County resident, Fowler has been getting a lot of press for playing nuns (she was also in the cast of Sister Act and Sister Act 2). She even wrote a column about it in Women’s Day magazine. The truth is, Fowler is a veteran of live theater and the Broadway stage, having played Mrs. Potts in the musical “Beauty And The Beast,” and having been nominated for Tony Awards for her performances in the Stephen Sondheim musical “Sweeney Todd” and “The Boy From Oz,” a musical based on the life of Peter Allen. In a candid conversation, Beth Fowler talks about growing up in Jersey City and Rutherford, the career challenges she had to overcome, and how she came to be a member of one of the dynamic, an unconventional ensemble casts in television history in a show that is not on television. This episode is sponsored by the Pollack Financial Group.
