Description

Last November, while most New Jersey candidates ran for election in a sleepy political cycle, N.J. State Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo (D-Atlantic) was fighting in what he calls the toughest political race he ever had. The incumbent Democrat, and former mayor and councilman of Northfield, fought for reelection in one of the two most hotly contested Assembly seat races of the year. As he prepares for his second term in Trenton, Assemblyman Mazzeo talks about why he thinks he won reelection, and he discusses the major questions facing New Jersey including what to do about the $80 billion pension crisis, whether casino gambling should be allowed outside of Atlantic City, whether the gas tax should be raised to help fund transportation infrastructure projects, and what needs to be done about the heroin problem that is gripping the state.
