Description

N.J. State Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto came to the United States from Cuba with his mother 45 years ago. Their lives in America began in a basement apartment in Union City and two bags of groceries his uncle gave them. From these humble beginnings, Prieto would eventually ascend to one of the most powerful positions in New Jersey’s state government. But it wasn’t by design. Speaker Prieto tells his story in this episode and gives his thoughts about the current trend in US-Cuba relations. He also tells a little about his relationship with Governor Chris Christie, and explains his positions on the public pension and Transportation Trust Fund crises.
