BTF Episode: 25. Thomas O'Connell (LinkedIn Profile) is the Founder and CEO of Moby, a recent entrant into the Dublin bike sharing market and holder of the second of just 2 licenses issued to operate in that market. A serial entrepreneur Thomas has spent his career focussed on the 'wheeled good'. He started a highly successful distribution business with the 'KMX kart' - a recumbent trike that quickly became a global best seller earning him the award of 'Distributor of the Year' from Toys 'R' Us along with distribution terms to supply Halfords, Argos and Tesco.
After the Global Financial Crisis of 2008 Thomas had to start again, opting to take his knowledge of distribution and apply it to the design and manufacturing off his own product - the now world famous 'Y-bike' for teaching kids bike balance. He eventually merged his business with the business that manufacturers the Flicker bikes and Yvolution was formed - 'Born in Dublin, Raised in California'
