Season 4, end of season review
As per normal, at the end of season, we review the episodes and guests who Carlton has sat down with to discuss their lives, interests and careers.
This season Carlton undertook the highly unusual step of featuring a guest for all of the last four episodes of season four. The reason for this step was that the guest, Samantha Smith, a young, professional single mother of two, was prepared discuss how an accident left her head ready to fall off her body. We learn that the NHS could do nothing for Samantha, but to treat her as a terminal case. So it was, that on her own back, she researched and found that only two surgeons in the world could save her life. As both surgeons were in America and she was not a wealth women, Sam had to try to raise half a million pounds to save her life. Listeners will hear how she achieved this, not only once, but twice! These are truly incredible episodes.
This season Carlton was also able to interview one of the stars of the moment, the star of Netflix's hit series, Top Boy. Ashely Walters' two episode interviews are extremely forthcoming and enlightening. For anybody whose, a fan or interested in the film, movie and music industries, these are must hear episodes.
This season also saw the return of Big Mike Kilgannon. Mike's appearance with Carlton will provide listeners with a fantastic understanding of the new fiscal finance systems and technical processes. It's a great listen.
This new technical order was also evident in Carlton's discussion with Doctor Suhel Ahmed who futuristically was dragging the NHS into a technological patient focused doctor/patient interface. So, if you care about your health, you most listen to Suhel's episode.
The Black Spy also featured Fraser Michell a Royal Air Force (RAF) Squadron Leader. His exciting life was covered in great detail and is a must listen for any would be Air Force recruit, military enthusiast or just those with all round general interests.
Early in this season Jade was on hand to pose the question that we all should, how does TV and films depictions of the police and violent society play into real life events. The unending series of US mass shootings alone, should make us all consider this question.
We hope you will listen with interest to all this season's episodes as well as all other Black Spy Podcast seasons.
This review will be released on Monday 6 June 2022
