Tom Brooks lived the dream of every, well nearly every, young boy in Britain and indeed most of the world. A dream that is now, the goal of countless girls too.
Not only is this dream of playing football for a living steeped in the physical joy of kicking a ball better than most other young men, but also, if you are spotted by any Premier League club scout and signed to an academy, the sense of euphoria most be overwhelming. After all, in that moment, most boys would believe that they are on track to obtain immeasurable riches, fame and adulation.
Tom, like only a few other young teenagers, obtained this opportunity. Tom was on this track and more importantly, was determined to remain on it.
Tom's future, was seemingly assured.
