It isn’t that we’re so strong, it is that we are under God’s control and choose to be gentle no matter what situation we find ourselves in. We often think of cowardly, weakness, etc when talking about meekness, but that isn’t the real definition of meekness.

If you care deeply about something you’ll find your passion showing up when someone attacks or challenges the thing you care deeply about. Meekness is almost more about how we do things than what we things we do.

What is the opposite of meekness? Meekness is having control over your anger regardless of the situation.

Moses plead for his sister and for the Children of Israel multiple times. We often plead for ourselves, but how often do we plead for others?

Jesus is a perfect example of everything. Jesus never got upset over personal attacks, He got upset over people making the template a den of thieves.

God rewards those who are not focused on themselves.

Why should we be meek?

1. It is commanded in scripture. If you follow the Spirit, you will be meek!
2. There are rewards offered for the meek.
3. We will reach more for the kingdom when we put on meekness.

What does meekness in practice look like in our daily life.

1. The meek is slow to anger, and never angry because of an offense to ourselves.
2. Meekness means forgiveness. Deal quickly with anger when you realize that you need to. The only people you have to forgive are those that Jesus died for… (in case that isn’t clear, that means everyone). The point of meekness is not that we don’t care about the past, but that we refuse to bring it up with a desire of vengeance on someone.
3. The meek are patient in adversity. The key is understanding who it is that we are waiting on, we are waiting on God, not some human.
4. The meek are gentle with those who are weaker than we are.
