- While the Author Incubator launched in 2013, Dr. Angela Lauria's "Call to Adventure" came in 2007, as she stood on empty in the pouring rain, having been fired a week before Christmas. She was mortified and resolved within herself, "I am never, ever going to be in a position where I can be fired again." [7:19]
- We are all living the story believe about ourselves. If you want to change the story you are living, try re-telling your personal story. Not only did Angela change her own story, but now her business helps others retell their personal story while writing literally their books. [12:57]
- While the Author Incubator can boast a host of success indicators (Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing companies, $6M in revenue last year, etc.) Angela's philosophy of abundance and how money works goes like this: It's the Universe's money. While the publishing industry made the world a better place for hundreds of years, the internet has changed the way important information arrives in the hands of the people who need it. Her message to artists is to trust your training and instincts as an artist, even if you end up doing work that doesn't feel like "art".
