Here with Us- Immanuel = meaning "God with Us"
Mat 1:23 "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" (which means "God with us").
That name was first Given to Jesus by the Prophet Isaiah 700 years before His birth:
Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will
conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
A Baby Changed Everything!
Church we have great opportunity to highlight our great hope in Christ this Christmas season- let's do that- Let's herald (Proclaim) His coming like the shepherds did - "Col 1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you,
the hope of glory.
Col 1:28 He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.
Col 1:29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so
powerfully works in me."
We need to keep celebrating the Birth, death and resurrection of Jesus our lord- Amen
Even the world is getting over the commercialism of Christmas - it's a drag for some - some are just celebrating the best they can knowing this is a special time to relax and enjoy a break- I believe there are more and more cynically asking "Where is this Prince of Peace in a world filled with so much trouble"?
But the real Christmas message goes far deeper.
. It answers all the great questions that plague the human race at
this hour.
. The Christmas message is relevant, revolutionary and reassuring to
us today.
. I believe it can be summed up in three words: a cradle, a cross and a crown.
First, the cradle. On that first Christmas night, the Bible tells us about
the angel coming to those fearful shepherds and saying, "Fear not, I bring you good news" (Cf. Luke 2:10).
