We explore whether product roles, design systems, and brand identity are static definitions or shifting realities, starting with Marty Cagan’s argument that we must separate core responsibilities from contextual scope. We then examine how Nick Babich’s DESIGN.md and Antinomy’s cultural worlds suggest that structured specifications and deep resonance matter more than visual mockups. Finally, we confront the tension in r/UXDesign where aesthetic experimentation and ethical neutrality challenge who actually decides what the final product looks like.
