Description

We explore the dangerous conflation of AI-assisted creation with actual product judgment, arguing that the ability to build is no longer the bottleneck—knowing if it’s good is. Drawing on Dan Maccarone’s critique of "vibe-coding" and Scott Berkun’s insights on the paralysis of contemplation, we examine why speed alone doesn’t solve usability gaps, as seen in Baymard’s stark performance benchmarks. We then apply this lens to real-world design dilemmas, from the cognitive load of 3D interfaces to the critical need for narrative clarity in portfolios, to ask if we can actually evaluate the work we’re so easily able to produce.
