John's gospel was written to a people very similar to us. John chose very specific events and words from Jesus to challenge and encourage the world around him. Many people were defining truth to meet their own needs. Others were trying to find life in an empty religion. John was sharing the message that abundant life could only be found in Jesus Christ.
