Big Idea - What does it mean for God to be with us, to be in the camp, or to dwell in our heart, and how are we to respond to His presence with us? God is with us as the very center of our life. God is rightly the the center of everything but in our sinful rebellion we have put ourselves in the center and God in the remote fringes of the universe. But God chose Abraham and his descendents to be His chosen people. They would be His people and He would be there God. At Sinai the promise begins to take shape. By entering into a covenant relationship with Israel, Yahweh puts Himself back into the center of their lives and community. Like the epicenter of an earthquake, it can be a perilous place to live, but also one of immeasurable blessings! This is an amazing picture and promise of the relationship that He desires with His people, under the old covenant and under the new. The God of the Bible is not only the God of heaven, but He is also God with us.
