Often lost people do extraordinary deeds of kindness and generosity, but there is a built in limit to human love. At the root of it, perhaps buried very deeply, so deep the owner does not even see it, there is a root of selfishness and self interest in it. It could be argued the same is true for the Christian - but the moralist does it ONLY for its personal benefit = to get merit or gain at some level. The true child of God, on the other hand, does it because of the Character of their Father with whom they are coming to share a likeness and portion of that same character. It is a totally unselfish and unconditional love that sets apart the kind and loving deed of the child of God, and these deeds will bring great reward to the one living and loving like their Father!
