Big Idea - Jesus is God's supreme and ultimate revelation, better than the prophets, better than the Angels. So does that mean we throw away the former revelation? What do we do with the message of the prophets and the angels, now that the ultimate revelation is here? The former revelation of prophets and angels now find their completed meaning and purpose because Jesus is the ultimate message. He is the ultimate revelation because of who He is - The Only Son who is the Divine Davidic King. He makes all the other revelation (OT) make sense, as he is the one who fulfills completely all that the former revelation pointed to. Since Jesus is the ultimate revelation, the Gospel becomes the lens through which can really understand all of Scripture. At the same time, when rightly understood, all of the OT revelation helps us understand Jesus and the Gospel.
