The Israelites had experienced God’s mighty salvation from slavery in Egypt, and His glorious power in bringing them to Himself at the Mountain of God. They had really done nothing on their side, it was all God’s doing. They had been saved by grace. But, there is so much more that God intends to do for the nation, for His people. His plan is to bring them into the Promised Land, to conquer all their enemies, and to make their lives prosperous and blessed in every way! Most significantly, His plan is to be in their midst, not merely working from the distant realms of heaven, but to be near to them and accessible. This too, would be a matter of grace in that Israel had not done anything, nor could they ever do anything to earn or deserve these blessings from God, or His presence among them.
