What do we celebrate? We tend to get a great deal of satisfaction and joy out of our triumph over others. That is one of the major appeals of sports and why it is so popular. It is the chief aim of the hunger for power - in the business world and in the political realm. It is the driving force behind most of what people call success. We even see it in the triumph of good over evil - in war (our side is always the good side), or in crime and justice (getting the bad guys). We also tend to derive a great deal of satisfaction in the feeling that I have the answers - That I know more than the other guy, that my opinion's and ideas are superior to those who do not agree with me. Jesus has a much different value and idea of what is worthy of celebrating. He celebrates God’s rescue of the weak - God coming to down to save helpless babes. He celebrates with the Father, is plan to hide the way of salvation from the smart people, and reveal Himself to the simple. He celebrates the unfolding of God's plan in the advent of His own life, death, and resurrection.
