Description

Big Idea - As God's chosen, redeemed, and ransomed people God calls them to be like Him, to be Holy as He is holy. What does it mean to be holy - where and how were they to work out this godlike holiness? God is not of this earth. Is holiness living the life of a hermit, or a monk seeking to escape this life and the world? Holiness is being like God in everyday life - it is a lifestyle that is evident in the daily habits and routines of life. God commands are not simply a random standard that we are to measure up to, nor are they a means to prove that we are worthy of God. Rather, they represent the very character of God and show how the holiness of God is to intersect with every part of life. We have been ransomed by the blood and brought into a covenant relationship with Him. Now the goal of our life is to become like Him and live life in a way that displays His holy character in all that we do. The commands teach how to do that.
