Elijah was a man who was no different from any of us in his nature (human and fallen), but he was also a righteous man who had great power and effectiveness in prayer. It is clear that God listened to the prayers of Elijah, because Elijah listened to the voice of God! Thus, the ability to pray with great power, is the result of a life that is fully tuned in and responsive to the voice of God. A life of listening to God comes with the practice of certain habits that make up a lifestyle of prayerfulness. We will have great power and effectiveness in prayer as we practice these key disciplines that help us hear God, respond with obedience, and grow in faith. Out of this kind of life will grow the confidence, faith, and power to pray with great effect - to pray so that God hears us and does what we ask
