How can we become people who have great power in the outworking of our prayers? The power to restore the sick and to bring forgiveness to the sinner? We will have great power and effectiveness in prayer when we learn to pray like Elijah. He was a man who was no different from any of us in his nature, but he was in constant conversation with God, and out of that conversation God revealed His will and purpose. That does not mean we are effective in prayer simply because we prayed for what he knew God was already going to do. God worked out His purpose through the fervent prayers of Elijah. As one who stood in the presence of God, Elijah became an agent for God's power on earth. It was by Elijah's word and faith, that God worked.
