After eleven signs and wonders God have hardened Pharaoh's heart while dividing his people and strengthening the will of the Israelites, we are brought to the climax of the story when Israel is finally forced out of Egypt upon Pharaoh’s demand. This week we pick up the story on the night that the death angel visits Egypt and kills all of the first born males (both human and livestock) in the land. This pushes Pharaoh over the edge and he forces the Israelites out of egypt (confirming God’s prediction that Egypt will force Israel out). We are then given further instructions on the passover including that it should only be taken by the circumcised. As a reflection on this passage I would like to break up its contents into four headings and discuss the life applications of each:
