How are we to understand and prepare for the return of Christ? Jesus will return and bring sudden and total judgment upon the world. When He comes there will be no time to prepare, it will be too late for change. So, we must prepare now for His coming judgment.
Jesus has been teaching that the Kingdom is now available to those who will seek for it and enter by faith. The Kingdom comes with the King - Jesus. He is establishing His rule over the lives of the faithful through the redeeming and life transforming work of the cross. Jesus had to suffer and die, but He also rose again, ascended to the place of supreme authority at the right hand of God, and He will return one day to conquer and subdue every enemy in every place. Jesus warns his followers that when the day comes they will not miss it! It will be a day of great judgment as He deals fully and finally with every created being. He will separate those who acknowledge Him as king, from those who do not. Many will not be prepared for that day, because they are careless and unconcerned about anything but their own self-centered lives and activity.
