Jesus told Nicodemus that no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. This new birth means being washed from sin, receiving a new heart, and sharing in Christ's resurrection life. It comes through the mysterious and powerful work of the Holy Spirit, made possible by Jesus being lifted up on the cross. The proper response is to ask yourself whether you have been born again, and to look for evidence of new desires, new will, and new hopes in your life.
