Dallas: The state fair of Texas opens this weekend and it’s time for the rematch. Last year Coach Henry Frazier Prairie View Panthers defeated Coach Rod Broadway Grambling State Tiger. This game will be different with Prairie View losing last week at home to Alabama State.
Andrew Lyons kicked a 47-yard field goal with: 23 remaining as Alabama State pulled the upset, snapping Prairie View's streak of 15 wins against SWAC opponents, 18-15. The Hornets responded after the Panthers had tied the game with 1:55 to play with a 10-play drive that moved the ball 50 yards to set up the game-winning kick. Bama State is now 3-0 in the league and 3-0 overall. PV drops to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the SWAC.
Meanwhile Grambling won its home openers against Jackson State. Frank Warren rushed for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead Grambling in its SWAC opener, 28-21, over previously unbeaten Jackson State. Casey Therriault was outstanding in defeat for JSU, throwing for 346 yards and a score.
Game time will on this Saturday evening at 6pm from the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
