Colleen Bourassa – Ageless /beauty and Wellness
Colleen is a caring individual and an innovative thinker. She provided direct patient care for twenty-five years in various clinical settings. She pioneered adult foster care in Washington County OR for Alzheimer and hospice patients. She was not only involved with direct patient care but was in charge of hiring and training staff, as well as managing logistics for five houses in which there was a total of eighteen staff and twenty-five patients. The long hours and complexity of human interactions with patients, their families, staff and governing officials tried her patience. No other career has demanded so much of her.
In addition, during her time in adult foster care, Colleen was co-founder of Health Care Institute in Portland, Oregon. This school was graded by the Oregon Board of Nursing as one of the best Certified Nursing Assistant schools in Oregon. With her positive attitude and creativity, the school served diverse cultures with the intent of preparing students for work in the adult foster care arena or other clinical settings.
Colleen’s grinding schedule of working and being on call 24/7/365 lead to a return to school to prepare for a career change.
She attended Portland Community College and then George Fox University to earn a BA in Business and Organizational Leadership.
She then began a career as an insurance Disability Analyst performing a fiduciary role in analyzing, determining eligibility and paying claims.
While working full-time, she again returned to school at Portland State University to earn a Master of Science degree in Education and Counseling and become a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Collen also became a certified professional coach, having attended an International Coaching Federation coaching school. Coaching had been calling to her since learning about it in 1986.
Using her advanced education she decided to use her skills part-time as a Vocational Rehab counselor/coach to the State of OR and the Veterans Administration. This was in addition to working her FT job. It was very fulfilling work. However, the funding dried up as the economy changed in 2008 and this left her searching for a new avenue in which to serve.
Colleen was introduced to Nu Skin, a direct marketing company in 2009. So began a new opportunity, again while continuing to work full-time. Having seen the devastating results of poor health choices during her careers in direct care and administration of disability claims, she welcomed the opportunity to learn how to educate people about their options for wellness with a wealth of well researched skin care and supplement choices.
Colleen has a great personal sense of health and wellness and a genuine joy for living which is demonstrated in her own life. She is beautiful inside and out. Those who know her are awe-struck by her ready smile and infectious laugh, her positivity, sensitivity and insights. She promotes the health of the whole person: body, mind and spirit. By example, she encourages each of us to be our own best self.
