You weren't the first person to make a mess of life; everyone sins. Our sin separates us from God and from the meaning and purpose that we draw from a pure relationship with Him. We have to openly and honestly admit our sin in order to recieve God's grace and forgiveness. When we ask Him for forgiveness, he will give it to us.
