Welcome to the Cigars and Taxes podcast! We are your hosts, Layton Smith and Stacey Hoffler Smith.
In this episode, we will introduce ourselves and the concept behind our podcast. We aim to entertain and inform, bringing the spirit of cigar lounge conversations to a broader audience while sharing valuable insights on tax issues, business growth, and personal development.
Who Are Stacey and Layton.
We are both enrolled agents (EAs) licensed to practice before the IRS and have helped those who own them money.
With a combined experience of 24 years, we have established our offices in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and Waterbury, Connecticut, serving clients with our extensive knowledge and expertise.
Stacey focuses on tax mitigation and planning, while Layton specializes in IRS and state audits, large liabilities, and offers in compromise.
The Concept of Cigars and Taxes
The idea of the podcast originated from our informal conversations in cigar lounges.
After a successful day at work, we would unwind in cigar lounges, enjoying a smoke and a drink. Clients would approach us with tax issues, seeking advice in a friendly, safe space to discuss their IRS problems.
However, the pandemic forced the closure of cigar lounges, disrupting our usual marketing and advertising methods. Also, after reopening, we noticed the atmosphere was not quite the same as before Covid.
Our podcast aims to bring these informal, informative conversations to a broader audience.
Practical Experience and Expertise
We have helped hundreds of families navigate complex tax issues and find relief.
Our knowledge comes from years of practice and personal growth as business owners.
We aim to share practical tidbits on business, industry, economy, and personal growth, providing actionable advice to help you succeed.
Disclaimer and Representation
Listeners are advised to consult their tax professionals for personalized advice.
As enrolled agents, We can represent individuals before the IRS and state tax authorities, just like attorneys and CPAs.
Non-enrolled individuals can also represent clients, but the client must be present.
We help you understand that fight. You know, it is not just that you are having this issue with the IRs. We understand that it impacts every aspect of your life, every aspect that you see in your life on a daily basis. It has to be fixed. - Stacey Hoffler Smith.
The goal of Cigars and Taxes is for us to bring informal, very friendly, and informative conversations that we had in cigar lounges to your ears and your cell phones. - Layton Smith.
