IN RESPONSE is a living, open, process-based installation. Placing sound, painting, and attention as its central coordinates, it is inspired by experimental composer Pauline Oliveros' practice of Deep Listening, and her invitation to us to listen to every possible sound with equal attention and openness. Pursuing Oliveros' call, IN RESPONSE transforms the exhibition space into a resonant body and builds on collaboration: members of the DOCK community and visitors are invited to join the project at every stage, accumulating moments of shared listening, improvisation and experimentation.
