While many love the books exploration of spirituality and philosophy, others might find it too preachy or overwhelming and then lack of character development. Obviously, some readers feel that the protagonist, Santiago is not well developed or relatable. Then unrealistic expectations. The books mystical and magical elements might have been too much for your taste or like, not my genre."
