"A friend recently shared with me that the night before his wedding, his family suffered a death in the family. And when he asked the rabbi about canceling the wedding for the funeral, the rabbi said, in Judaism, we put the simcha, the celebration, first. And so they had the wedding followed a few days later by the funeral. And I live in la, and over the past week, I have just witnessed devastation and heartbreak and loss and confusion and struggle."
