"And this horrible time in Southern California also showed me the importance of community because hundreds of thousands of dollars were raised in GoFundMes to help people I know raise rebuild their homes and trying to regain a sense of normality after the destruction the wildfires caused. And people in my hometown were also making donations of clothes, food and other resources to people in town and students at the various schools who had lost their homes and were undoubtedly feeling a great amount of uncertainty."
