I have been a fan of All My Children soap opera for as far back as I can remember and of course Erica Kane was the character that I was always drawn to most. She was a strong, independent woman at a time when as a young girl I didn't see much of that on TV. Agnus Nixon wrote Erica Kane to be a woman who wanted to love, independence and fame not unlike so many other women who watched All My Children faithfully every day. We could live vicariously through Erica. Susan made her a lovable character because she so perfectly created Erica to be a multifaceted woman.
Today I had the opportunity to go back and time and have a conversation with the woman I watched faithfully everyday when I arrived home from school. That's why you can hear I get a little emotional near the end because it sunk in and I realized I was actually talking to someone who was so much a part of my youth if only through the TV screen.
