My guest today is Amanda, and she completed a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) at Monash University. Amanda shares great information in this episode about what Occupational Therapy is, how it differs from Physiotherapy and other similar fields, how she learnt more about it before she chose to pursue it, and all the settings where an Occupational Therapist can work.
Amanda started to hear about Occupational Therapy through her cousin, who was studying OT at the time, and then by talking to an Occupational Therapist she met through her work experience placement. Through conversations with these people, she learnt what Occupational Therapy was and felt confident and excited applying for the course.
Amanda gives a really clear explanation of what Occupational Therapy actually is and how it differs from similar fields such as Physiotherapy and Osteopathy.
Amanda has started her career and has already had experience in a few different settings. She describes the type of work she's done so far, and gives us an insight into some of the other places that Occupational Therapists work, as well as the different people that they work with and the types of tasks and activities they focus on.
