Description

Sam Tufnell was born in Los Angeles in 1978 of British hippies essentially escaping the bad weather and old English social structures. He's the only American of my family and spent the majority of his childhood bouncing back and forth in London. Sam comes from a literary background and his grandmother was a child poet prodigy. Sam moved to NYC to attend School of Visual arts where his obsession for sculpture and process took shape.

His has a current exhibition at 5 Myles gallery, as well as an evolving studio process from sculpture into video and creating a new type of art form through the marriage of old and new technologies.

On this episode, we talk about Sam's inspiration and process, the redundancy of the art market versus innovation, and Art as meditation versus sensationalism.
