Ginger leaves Earth in a stolen alien craft and spirals through a hallucinatory, fragmented journey into space, marked by dissociation, violent visions, guilt over war, and loss of purpose, before realising he is powerless as a vast alien fleet heads toward Earth and his craft is taken over.

This is a long chapter — long enough to justify a sped-up introduction, though it probably evens out by the end. The story itself is now more than halfway complete, and the cracks between narrative, memory, and control are beginning to show.
