Description

Today, we are learning from Marsha Shandur.

Marsha, of Yes Yes Marsha, believes that Storytelling is the key to instant connection, clear, effective communication, and changing the world for the better. A Storytelling and Persuasive Communication Coach and Trainer, she has taught thousands of executives, entrepreneurs and professionals across the world.

Before launching her business, she spent 15 years working as a Radio DJ and Music Supervisor for hit TV shows and films, where she gained a powerful understanding of how to communicate in a way that creates connection, trust, engagement and loyalty.

Let's get started...

In this conversation with Marsha Shandur, I learned:

00 Intro

45 Should Canada become a part of the USA?

00 All borders should be open to everyone.

40 From telling a story on stage, to coaching the storytellers for the next events.

20 The storytelling history in her family.

25 Ethically persuasive storytelling.

15 The internal monologue of potential clients for service providers.

35 As a service provider you don't want people that you can't help.

20 As an entrepreneur finding the balance between doing good work and paying rent.

45 True Stories Toronto falls in that bucket of free and is considered more like art.

35 The origin story of True Stories Toronto.

25 How storytelling and connection can give you hope in turbulent times.

50 Lack of empathy and shame are the roots of most evil in the world.

05 Building a relationship with people. 50% of the sales happen in the follow-up, and 80% of the people only follow up once.

20 When you are telling a story, you are making a movie inside your listener's brain. What did it look like? How did you feel?

05 The chemical effects of storytelling in your brain.

30 A story example of how to sell something technical.

05 Where do you find stories to share?

25 Using storytelling in videos on LinkedIn vs TikTok.

35 Done is better than perfect.

35 Bigger quality will also bring more quality people.

10 Learning how to be confident on camera.

40 Niching is important to attract the people that really want to work with you, and video is really helpful for niching.

50 The marketing trick that works, even when you know and recognize the techniques.

05 A rising tide lifts all boats.

55 One of the badass things you can do in sales is to promote someone else.

25 If masterminds were a standard in every industry, the world would be a different place.

50 It's not the job of your partner or friends to know everything about your business.
