I put this mix together for a young man recovering from surgery and in need of a good diversion as he recuperates. Ewan Dallape', this mix is for you and anyone recovering from illness or in a deep funk and in need of uplift.
Since Ewan is young and rather new to electronic music, I thought I'd include many of what I consider the classics, artists who were pivotal in the success of electronic music while in its infancy as a genre (1990s). For this mix, that includes songs from Aphex Twin, The Future Sound of London, Richie Hawtin and Pete Namlook recording as their collaborative ensemble Air, Speedy J, Orbital, Fluke and of course Global Communication.
The Orbital song is a rendition of the Dr. Who theme that I was fortunate to see them perform live in NY weeks after 9/11, a bright spot in an otherwise somber time.
In addition to these, I included a remix of Depeche Mode, since Ewan's mother and I share a deep appreciation for their works over the years, and Ulrich Schnauss does them justice. Also included is a track from Martin Gore's new album entitled MG.
