Description

To Australians, recreational fishing holds a very special place. Despite declining participation in virtually all forms of outdoor activity in recent years, fishing remains extremely popular And socially acceptable with a very large number of Australians.

All of that said, we have some significant knowledge gaps. We know that fishing is important to the social fabric of our country. We know it's beneficial to the mental health and well-being of the individuals who fish. And we know it bolsters and sometimes is the key driver of regional economies and the distribution of wealth from metropolitan areas to the regions.
