Fred Shaw is currently the mayor of Carpinteria. He served for six years on the Carpinteria City Council. Fred devoted himself for 36 years to the Postal Service, where he worked as a US Postal Service carrier. He was the Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteer of the Year in 2004 and was awarded the Carpinteria Noon Rotary International’s Distinguished Vocational Service Award in 2009. Fred also served for three years in the United States Navy with Honorable Discharge. Before mayor he was on the Mobile Home Rent Stabilization Board for 6 years, Active in Carpinteria Beautiful, Carpinteria Seal Watch, Chamber of Commerce, CERT graduate and Board Member of HopeNet of Carpinteria. He is the founding member Carpinteria Host Program and received the Ambassador of the Year 2017 Award from the Carpinteria Chamber of Commerce.
