This Collage is built on Brad Paisley's 2013 song "Accidental Racist". It's a song about a Southerner who suddenly realizes that the flag of the Confederacy is a symbol of oppression. I salute Paisley's good intentions but even so, I always felt the song was still a bit too forgiving of white Southerners. "Accidental" Racist!? more like IGNORANT!
In light of the Charleston shootings this week I couldn't stop thinking about the song and that flag, so I built a new version with audio clips from Bill Maher and John Stewart in hopes of helping to take down that poisonous rag in South Carolina.
