Haisam's journey in jiu-jitsu has been anything but easy. Haisam is Ghana-born BJJ black belt out of Assembly Jiu-Jitsu in Detroit, Michigan. After leaving Ghana at 15 years old to live with his dad in Japan, Haisam found BJJ and never looked back. Haisam recently gained massive attention after submitting Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu in 1:14 at ADCC.
Haisam realized his potential in jiu-jitsu when he was a purple belt and decided to take the leap and change schools to Carpe Diem in Toyko, Japan. In this episode, we discuss his performance and ADCC, submitting Cyborg, how he prepares for competition, training as a big guy, combat sports in Africa, and much more.
