Description

Jason continues reading Elevating Construction Foreman with the section on leveling work, the practical side of Little's Law. He walks through how a crew leader can help level the system by working from production rates, watching zone size and configuration, leveling work packages and Takt wagons, adjusting labor counts, bringing materials just in time, and protecting buffers. He returns to the analogy of a student whose reward for finishing early is a moved-up deadline, and what that does to the next assignment. The refrain throughout is that you can be the best at your trade and still not go faster than the system lets you.

What you'll learn in this episode:

If your crew finished a zone early tomorrow, would the extra time go to buffer work, or to a move-up that costs you the recovery time?
