Description

Jason explains why the words a leader chooses can decide whether a standard like zero tolerance lands as respect or as punishment. He starts with a shout-out to the Petty Coach Smith team, then walks through the Integrated Production Control System and why each part, from contractor grading to worker huddles, has to be communicated well. Using examples from a morning worker huddle and a bedtime talk with his son, he shares a "punishment versus respect" list of phrases written with Kevin Rice. The through-line is that we never do things out of punishment, we do them out of respect, and the way we say it should make that clear.

What you'll learn in this episode:

What's one thing you say on your project that could be reworded so people hear respect instead of punishment?
